I am a independent life and health agent here in Illinois and I am having a hard time finding new prospects. I have went thru all my friends and family and they have been great about sending me prospects to call but I need new ways of getting in front of people. I have not had a sale since after Thanksgiving. I have brought leads before but they give them to 5 or 6 or people and buying leads have never worked out for me.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

hi ted,
im a new agent and would like to ask you a question.how do you feel about breaking the ice at the door? do you prefer the scenario of small talk at the door to warm the customer up or do you believe its better just to introduce yourself immediately and
tell them im an insurance agent and risk getting the door shut in my face. my nature is to be honest upfront, but is that a bad thing and evoke a negative reaction.
thanks for your advice.

I am a brand new insurance agent. I have a lengthy list of prospects but I am worried that I will not choose the right words in order for them to agree to set an appointment with me. I don't want to shut them down automatically. I've read a little on the website but just wanted some personal opinions on how other agents approach that first initial phone call to a new prospect to find out if they currently have insurance and hoping to set an appointment.

Hello,
Recently, my boss said, "you need to start making phone calls every day for an hour". I have had my Life, Accident, and Health license since this past April of 2017. I haven't made any calls as of yet, and don't have any clients. The agency I work for has many clients but they are the owners clients. Any new business I bring he will share the commission with me. But, I feel uncomfortable calling during the day time, when this site says the best time to make cold calls are on Sunday nights.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can find people to call during the day time? And, what the best time would be?
I am thinking the best time to call during the day is 10am.
Thank you for any advice you can offer.
Maureen

I am a new agent and my company provides leads. The leads are a response from a post card mailed to the prospects home. The post cards have four boxes to check.1 free prescription drug benefits 2 hearing and vision benefits 3 final expense benefits 4 income replacement benefits. 9 out of 10 leads come back with only free prescription drugs box checked.I am having a difficult time closing these leads. The prospects seem to be interested in the free drug information only. When I transition to life insurance their demeanor changes.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I like to prospect businesses during the day for payroll deduction life insurance with simplified or guaranteed underwriting. It is time consuming, but it gives me the opportunity to personally meet the decision maker on most occasions.
For evening prospecting I personally go door to door in my neighborhoods leaving a door hanger with my name on it and a folder with life or retirement information.
I continue to work referrals and centers of influence.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Sincerely,

I am just starting out in the insurance business, I know it will be a requirement to start offering my products to friends and family. As Ted has said be proud of what you do and I am.But I do find it awkward talking to friends and family about their financial situations.I feel it puts an uncomfortable pressure on them to feel like they have to buy my products. Also, alot of my family ties are very private about their financial matters.
Anyone else fell this way?Any advice?

Hello,
Im a new agent just getting started. I want to start out on my prospecting by trying to reach out to those who have recently gotten married or have had a child. I see you've tried this method and you mentioned you had gone to the courthouse to get the info. Could you go into this a little further on how you generated prospects? Ive done some research about searching the records in my area but its telling me you need to have the name in order to search for marriage licenses and birth certificates. Which department did you go to? Were there any specific requirements in order to obtain the info? I would greatly appreciate your help.

Can someone help with some ideas.
I have used several types of marketing (i.e. direct mail, internet, newspaper, senior publications) to secure qualified sales leads for life, annuity, and LTC needs, in the Phoenix, AZ area. My response rates have been pitifully low and the quality has been anything but encouraging.
Any suggestions?

In your website, you talk about money mail. can you tell me what that means and can you share some more prospecting ideas with me?
Thank you so much for your help. I love the website, and the Prospect or Die e-book & appreciate you going out of your way to assist us.
I'm not a native of TX so I don't know a lot of people. I'm going to work your plan from the very beginning. I'll let you know when I start the program.
